The NUA Executive is concerned at the increasing trend on the field and recent media attention being placed on cases of umpire abuse in the football community. With Junior Finals commencing and Senior Finals approaching, the inherent pressure on the field will dramatically increase. The NUA Executive strongly support a ZERO tolerance approach to umpire abuse of any kind.

All umpires who feel the need for the support of an advocate at the NFL Tribunal need to contact Tony Mahony on 0413 372 004 by 7.00pm on the Sunday night following their report. Any requests received after this time cannot be guaranteed support at the tribunal.
There is a panel of six experienced umpires who have volunteered their time to provide this service for NUA members.

It is not often that umpires get recognised in the mainstream or in the media, especially at a local level, but in this case, it was hard to ignore.
To the bloke affectionately known as 'Morro', Brian Morrison; an amazing individual who always put the group first and foremost over his own achievements, his umpiring and in some instances, the course of his life. His retirement earlier this year came as a shock to some, and it is high time he gets the recognition he deserves.

Performax apparel will be being picked up tomorrow and brought to training next Monday/Wednesday. There has been a very bad issue with a notoriously slow supplier. These items were supposed to be available for me last week, so I apologise in advance.
Also, anyone who has ordered WOMENS items will need to see me, as the womens range I advertised has been discontinued. I am getting updated styles and prices tomorrow when I pick up the rest.

With all the sad stories going around at the moment it is certainly the right moment to put out some positive umpiring news!
After only one year at the VFL it is confirmed that Andrew Talbot has been offered a trial to the Senior List for 2009. Andrew has been training hard with the senior squad and this is a fantastic achievement, after only one year down town.
Word on Trent Fowler is that he is continuing to smash pre-season records and for a second successive year is on fire! Surely wont be far from a senior trial if he can keep up that attitude.
Good luck boys

The understanding of the executive is the Colin Hill is the only NUA member that has lost his house due to the bushfires. On behalf of all NUA members we will be making a donation directly to Colin from member funds. I have had contact from the AFLQUA who will be doing fundraising specifically to assist us in helping Colin. This is a magnificent gesture from that association and shows just how widespread the compassion is.
